Titans net three on Class A's first team

The All-Nebraska first-team trio from state champion Papillion-La Vista South — hitters Kadie and Amber Rolfzen and setter Kelly Hunter — highlight the All-Class A first team. Other members are libero Kate Elman of Omaha Marian, Nicole Walker of Omaha Burke, Janaya Fox of Bellevue East and Christina Silver of Grand Island.

Walker, a member of the All-Metro Conference team, led the Bulldogs to their first-ever state tournament victory. She finished with 340 kills and 296 digs.

Fox, another member of the All-Metro team, led Class A with 605 kills. She also was the Chieftains' top defender with 449 digs.

Silver pounded 424 kills for the Islanders, who reached the state tournament for the 16th time. She also had 338 digs and 88 aces.

CLASS B

All-Nebraska first-teamers Lauren Sieckmann of Elkhorn South and Cassie Effken of Lincoln Pius X top the All-Class B team. Other first-team members are Lauren Smith and Lea Sack of Pius, Michaela Schimmer of Grand Island Northwest, Katie Hughes of Seward and Elaine Kramer of Gretna.

Smith, a Creighton recruit, had 295 kills and 66 blocks while libero Sack had 460 digs and 46 aces. Schimmer had 236 kills and 537 assists for the Class B runner-up Vikings, Hughes blasted 529 kills for Seward and Kramer — a three-time member of the All-Omaha Area team — led the Dragons with 370 kills.

CLASS C-1

Katie Brand, a first-team All-Nebraska selection, highlights the All-Class C-1 team. Other first-team selections are the Columbus Scotus trio of Jordan Chohon, Lauran Hellbusch and Kara Moore, Michaela Mestl and Bailey Sokolowski of Kearney Catholic and Hallie Bauer of Minden.

Chohon led the Shamrocks in assists with 792, Hellbusch led Scotus in kills with 376 and Moore led the team in digs with 328. Mestl and Sokolowski each finished with 297 kills for the Class C-1 runner-up Stars while Bauer finished with 333 kills, including 43 at state.

CLASS C-2

Norfolk Lutheran's Elizabeth Gebhardt and Kendra Dinkel lead the way on the All-Class C-2 squad. Other first-teamers are Megan Schmale of Elmwood-Murdock, Nicole Carson of Ord, Morgan Heise of Wood River, Kaitlyn Ernst of Hastings St. Cecilia and Alexis Egr of Yutan.

Gebhardt had a team-high 328 kills for the Eagles and Dinkel, the team's libero, had 397 digs. Schmale had 564 kills for the Knights, Carson averaged 3.1 kills and 8.4 assists per set, Heise had 502 kills, Ernst had 318 kills and 75 blocks while Egr ended with 287 kills and 126 blocks.

CLASS D-1

The All-Class D-1 team is led by Alyssa Frauendorfer, who pounded 441 kills to help Humphrey secure a title in its first trip to state. Other players on the first team are Shelby Garland and Christina Swartzendruber of Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, Claire White and Taylor Erdkamp of Exeter-Milligan, Skyler Erickson of Cedar Valley and Hailey Steuter of West Point Guardian Angels Central Catholic.

Garland had 334 kills, libero Swartzendruber had 460 digs, White had 332 kills and setter Erdkamp had 808 assists for the state runner-up Timberwolves, Erickson had 368 kills and 55 aces while Steuter led the Bluejays with 336 kills and 71 aces.

CLASS D-2

The All-Class D-2 first team honorees are KC Heimann of state-champion Howells, Kalynn Dahlke of Hampton, Abbey Preissler of Giltner, Mindy Kuck of Bertrand, Kelsey Biltoft of Lawrence-Nelson, Jordan Lempka of Sterling and Maggie Burke of Brady.

Heimann finished with 334 kills, Dahlke had 572 kills and 386 digs, Preissler pounded 352 kills, Kuck chipped in 302 kills, Biltoft had 473 kills, setter Burke dished out 790 assists and Lempka had 531 kills.
