YORK - This past weekend the Omaha World-Herald announced their All-State first and second team selections, along with their honorable mention picks.
The York News-Times had three players represented on the first team and two others were on the second team in their respective classes.
The Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves, who just missed a three-peat in Class D-1, placed two players on the Omaha World-Herald All-State first team in Claire White, a senior, and Taylor Erdkamp, a junior.
White led the Timberwolves this past season with 332 kills and also had 45 ace serves and 53 blocks. Erdkamp, who will be back next season for head coach Darcy White, was charted with 808 set assists on 2,046 of 2,093 set attempts for 97 percent.
In Class D-2 Hampton's Kalynn Dahlke was a first-team selection and she also was among the kills leaders in all the state with 572 on .430 hitting efficiency. She also had 111 ace serves on 277 of 356 chances. Dahlke is only a junior and she will return to the Hawks for next year.
Second team selections went to Maggie Malone of Fillmore Central in Class C-1, Malone ended the year with 323 kills which led the Panthers.
In Class D-2 Hampton's Taylor Van Housen was a second team pick as she was charted with 288 kills and 388 digs.
The Dukes had four selections to the Class B honorable mention list as Megan Fletcher (SR.), Aleah Rosenau (JR.) Erica Koehler (JR.) and Olivia Stubbs (JR.) were all chosen.
The following area teams ended the season with winning marks: Exeter-Milligan (32-2) and Class D-1 state runner-up, Fillmore Central (26-5), Heartland (19-11), Hampton (22-11, Class D-2 state qualifier) and Cross County (17-13).
The rest of the area selections included the following who were all honorable mention picks.
Class C-1
Centennial - McKenna Obermier, Riley Arnold.
Fillmore Central - Haley Norvell, Heather Broman, Lindsey Maloley.
Class D-1
Heartland - Sara Brune, Brielle van den Berg, Mikaelyn Dick.
Exeter-Milligan - Jackie Luzum, Megan Zwickl, Erica Yound, Jennifer Pribyl.
High Plains - Morgan Van Housen, Kendra Samuelson, Mackenzie Stevens.
Class D-2
Hampton - Hannah Bamesberger.
