Creighton looks to continue its success in Des Moines when it faces Drake in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The Bluejays (20-18-1, 9-5 Missouri Valley Conference) have won 13 straight games at Ron Buel Field. They’ll try to get back on track after going 0-3 last week.
The Bulldogs (18-21, 9-6) are 11-7 since a 7-14 start, but have lost five of six Valley games to upper-division league teams Northern Iowa and Illinois State the past two weekends.
A sweep of Wednesday’s games would give coach Brent Vigness his 600th coaching victory at Creighton. He’s 598-421-3 in 19 seasons.
Creighton is 9-5-1 in its last 15 games behind a balanced offensive effort. Nine Bluejays have homered in that span, with seven of them hitting multiple homers.
As a team during that span, CU has hit 23 homers and driven in 100 runs, hitting .302 and slugging .500 with an on-base percentage of .413. The Bluejays are 18 of 19 on stolen base attempts.
Amy Baker has hit .436 with three homers and 14 RBIs in that stretch, while Alexis Cantu is hitting .410 with six homers, 17 RBIs and 13 walks.
