Walking in stilettos is one thing. Running in them is another.
Runners slipped on their favorite high heels Sunday to benefit foster kids and childhood literacy. Some 60 people took part in the second annual High Heel Dash at Aksarben Village.
Men and women in no less than 2-inch heels raced 150 meters on Mercy Road in Omaha between 67th Street and Aksarben Drive. Relay teams covered closer to 300 yards. Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in the men's, women's and relay divisions.
The Junior League of Omaha, a community-focused group, organized the event. Money raised goes toward Project Hope Pack, which distributes backpacks to foster kids, and A Book of My Own, which distributes books to at-risk children.
