A good Samaritan was shot in the leg after he stepped in to stop two teens from harassing a younger girl, police said.
Dallas Waters, 30, was driving near 51st Street and Bedford Avenue when he spotted two boys pushing a girl on the sidewalk, said Lt. Darci Tierney, a police spokeswoman.
Waters left his vehicle to intervene about 11:30 a.m. and was shot by one of the teens, Tierney said.
A second bullet struck the outside of Monroe Middle School, 5105 Bedford Ave., she said.
No suspects were found after an extensive search of the area from Bedford Avenue to Pinkney Street between 45th and 42nd Streets.
Waters was taken to Creighton University Medical Center and later released.
