SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a 2-year-old girl has died after a fall from a horse in the Nebraska Panhandle.
The accident occurred Friday afternoon, about 10 miles northeast of Minatare in Scotts Bluff County.
The girl was identified as Emily Guerra.
Sheriff Mark Overman said witnesses and relatives told deputies that Emily was sitting on a horse while her father, Jorge Guerra, was helping other men brand calves. Overman said something spooked the horse and it took off. The toddler soon fell.
Overman said the girl was taken to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, where she died around 4:40 p.m. Friday.
