A big score for Don Stenberg.
The Nebraska Republican won the backing Monday of another tea-party favorite, with Kentucky U.S. Sen. Rand Paul throwing his support behind Stenberg’s quest for the Senate.
Rand called Stenberg the “true conservative” in the race.
“Many candidates say the right things when they are campaigning for office, yet very few actually mean it. Don is different. If you elect Don Stenberg your next Senator, I am confident he will join me and the true conservatives in the Senate to stop wasteful spending in Washington ...,” said Paul.
Stenberg is battling Attorney General Jon Bruning and State Sen. Deb Fischer of Valentine for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in next Tuesday’s primary.
In addition to Paul, Stenberg also has landed the backing of South Carolina U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, another tea party darling.
