Cabela’s marked the opening of its expanded bank office with a ribbon-cutting in Lincoln’s Technology Park on Monday and said it plans to increase its banking staff from today’s 430 people to 770 over the next five years.
The World’s Foremost Bank, named after the outdoor outfitter’s motto, was chartered in 2001 and manages a credit card loan portfolio of more than $3 billion. The office at 4800 N.W. First St. is the bank’s headquarters and customer service center, with the corporate headquarters for the retail company in Sidney, Neb.
The bank added 40,000 square feet to its 76,000-square-foot facility and is remodeling the original structure. First Commerce Bancshares of Lincoln had operated the credit card business as a joint venture with Cabela’s.
Wells Fargo Bank acquired First Commerce in 2000. Cabela’s took over the bank card division in 2001 with its new bank.
