After conducting a nationwide search, Gross High School has tapped John Schultz as its new principal for the 2012-13 school year.
Schultz has been working for the Omaha Public Schools, where he has served as a supervisor in the district's curriculum and learning department for the past seven years.
At Gross, he replaces Dorothy Ostrowski, who will become president of the Catholic high school. Ostrowski has been with Gross for 31 years, the last 12 as principal. She replaces Beckie Cleveland, who is stepping down.
In his previous post, Schultz wrote a nationally distributed curriculum for the National Academy Foundation, an organization that aims to sustain a national network of career academies. He also developed the Omaha district's business and marketing curriculum.
Before taking his administrative position with OPS, he taught for seven years, most recently at Benson High School.
