McCook pro golfer Brandon Crick is among 28 hopefuls playing in a U.S. Open qualifier Thursday at ArborLinks in Nebraska City. The two low scorers advance to sectional competition that will determine the field for next month’s Open at Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Crick started this year on the EGolf Tour.
Also in the ArborLinks field are brothers Josh, Jordan and Rylee Reinertson of Gibbon, Neb. Rylee, a sophomore at Gibbon High, has a waiver from the Nebraska School Activities Association to compete in the local qualifying because it falls during the high school season.
O’Neill, Neb., product John Hurley failed to advance in a local qualifier on Monday, shooting 72 at Miramont in the Houston area.
