For only the fourth time in the company’s 82-year history, Hy-Vee Inc. has a new chairman and CEO.
Thursday, Hy-Vee’s board of directors elected Randy Edeker, 49, to succeed Ric Jurgens, whose retirement June 1 caps a 43-year career with the Iowa-based supermarket chain. Edeker most recently served as president and chief operating officer.
“We will remain diligent in upholding the core values our founders set forth for us and delivering great service, great value and a helpful smile,” Edeker said.
Edeker, a 30-year veteran of Hy-Vee, has held positions at every level of the company. He joined Hy-Vee as a part-time employee at the Chariton, Iowa, store and moved up through the ranks.
Jurgens has been Hy-Vee CEO since 2003 and chairman since 2006.
