College of St. Mary: College of St. Mary celebrated its 88th commencement in the Grand Ballroom of CenturyLink Center Omaha for 252 students. Doane College: About 600 undergraduate and graduate degrees were awarded during Doane College’s 135th annual commencement celebration May 20. This was the first held in the newly renovated Cassel Open Air Theatre. Lincoln and Grand Island, Neb., campus undergraduate students and the college’s graduate programs had morning commencement. Hastings (Neb.) College: Hastings College’s 126th graduating class had 252 undergraduates receiving bachelor or master’s degrees. Nebraska Methodist College: Nebraska Methodist College – The Josie Harper Campus bestowed degrees and certificates to 153 students during May 4 graduation ceremonies at St. Andrew Methodist Church. Forty-one students completed the accelerated bachelor of science degree in nursing program March 9. Nebraska Wesleyan University: Dr. Fred Ohles, president of the university, awarded degrees to nearly 500 undergraduate and graduate students during Nebraska Wesleyan University’s 123rd annual commencement May 12. Three students were awarded the Gold Key Award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average during their college career. They are Heather Goodwin of Arlington, Ill.; Evan Harpster of Fremont, Neb.; and Andrew Schweitzer of Bedford, Iowa. Two students received the Silver Key Award for maintaining a 3.99 grade point average during their college careers. They are Lucas Hemmer of Humphrey, Neb., and Shu Fan Michelle Zhang of Lincoln. University of Nebraska at Kearney: A record number of graduate students received their degrees in May 4 ceremonies at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Health and Sports Center. In all, 167 graduate students received degrees. This was the second largest group of graduate students to earn degrees since the summer of 1991 when 163 graduated. University of Nebraska at Omaha: The University of Nebraska at Omaha had its first “graduation weekend” May 4-5 on campus. More than 1,500 students received degrees during spring commencement ceremonies. Weekend events began May 4 in Caniglia Stadium. Afterward, graduate students had an evening commencement ceremony in UNO’s Fieldhouse. The university’s undergraduate colleges had individual ceremonies Saturday. University of Nebraska-Lincoln: The University of Nebraska-Lincoln granted degrees to more than 2,800 students at commencement exercises May 4-5.
