Nebraska Children’s Home Society will use 375 tons of sand to turn part of downtown Omaha into a beach party. It’s all for Sand in the City, a family friendly event and fundraiser.
Corporate and community teams will compete Friday to build their best 15-ton sand sculpture.
The public can view the sculptures, vote for a favorite and enjoy food and local entertainment. There is also an interactive Kid Zone that features two gigantic sand boxes, bounce houses, face painting, balloon twisting and other kids’ games and activities.
No admission is charged, but donations are accepted to support the Nebraska Children’s Home Society.
Public hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the CenturyLink Center Omaha parking lot at North 10th Street and Capitol Avenue.
