Iowa, welcome Knotfest.
Slipknot, which hails from Des Moines, will kick off its own festival in its home state. The fest is billed as “a happening that will awaken your darkest senses” and features a lot of hard rock and metal acts.
On Aug. 17, Slipknot, Deftones, Lamb of God, Dethklok, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, The Urge, Prong and Dirtfedd will play two stages at the inaugural Knotfest at the Mid-America Motorplex near Pacific Junction, Iowa.
The one-day concert will also feature art installations, carnival rides, drum circles, graffiti walls and a Slipknot museum.
A second Knotfest is on Aug. 18 near Minneapolis.
Slipknot is known both for the frightening masks its members wear as well as heavy-hitting songs such as “Wait and Bleed,” “Duality” and “Snuff.”
Tickets for the Iowa show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at knotfest.com, ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster retail locations or by phone at 800-745-3000. VIP tickets, which include a meet and greet session with Slipknot, will also be available.
