Police have identified a man found dead Monday in the middle of a Dundee-area street but were still trying to determine if foul play was involved.
The man was identified as Allen B. Coufal, 47, of Omaha, said Officer Jacob Bettin, a police spokesman. Homicide detectives were trying to determine the cause of death, he said.
Bettin said a caller alerted police to a body in the middle of Caldwell Street near North 49th Avenue at 7:20 a.m.
Several residents in the quiet neighborhood a block south of Hamilton Street and three blocks west of Northwest Radial said they hadn’t heard or seen any unusual activity.
A review of court records shows Coufal had several contacts with police over the years. He was sentenced to one year in prison in 2008 for felony shoplifting.
