Union Pacific Railroad's 1940s-era steam locomotive — rail buffs know it as No. 844 — has made its way from its home base in Cheyenne, Wyo., to 12th and Cuming Streets. It's one of three U.P. exhibits to check out near TD Ameritrade Park throughout the College World Series, starting Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. each day:
>> The popular steam locomotive — it has its own app so fans can track it — has been traveling portions of the U.P. system and making appearances in communities along the way as part of the railroad's 150th anniversary this year.
>> A special 150th anniversary traveling museum car, complete with two touch-screen exhibits on the railroad's history and artifacts from the company's early years. It's a scaled-down version of an exhibit at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum in Council Bluffs.
>> A state-of-the-art engineer and conductor safety training trailer, where you can see how employees learn how to operate locomotives.
