LINCOLN (AP) — A 26-year-old man Lincoln man accused of shooting his estranged wife’s brother has pleaded no contest to reduced charges.
Mamo Khalaf had been charged with attempted murder. Tuesday, he pleaded no contest to assault, a weapons charge and a threats charge.
Police say Khalaf shot his brother-in-law early in the morning of July 24 last year. Prosecutors say Khalaf was free on bond at the time, accused of threatening to kill his wife’s uncle.
Khalaf’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 17.
