The 2012 Omaha Riverfront Jazz and Blues Festival has been canceled.
Last year's flooding forced the festival to relocate to the Orpheum Theater. Despite acts such as The Whispers and Karrin Allyson, low turnout had a devastating effect on the festival's financial situation.
Festival director Tim Clark is organizing a group to look into re-organizing the festival for 2013, but hurdles exist including finding corporate sponsors and getting assistance from the City of Omaha.
“The Omaha Riverfront Jazz and Blues presented an opportunity to bring people together to celebrate and preserve America's rich cultural history,” Clark said in a press release. “That includes the great American art form of jazz.”
