It took just one look at Creighton for Marysa Wilkinson to make up her mind about where she wanted to play college volleyball.
The 6-foot middle hitter from Lincoln Southwest will join the Bluejay program in two years.
“Their staff was just amazing. They are super nice,” Wilkinson said. “I fell in love with the campus and the players on the team. They made me feel really comfortable there.”
Wilkinson said Creighton and Kansas were her two finalists. She found out from traveling with the Nebraska Juniors 16-and-under select team that she didn’t want to go far from home.
Other interested schools included Boston College, Missouri, Penn State, Stanford, Illinois and Xavier.
Wilkinson said she’ll likely redshirt her freshman year.
She hasn’t seen the Bluejays play, but plans to this fall.
Wilkinson said she often changes her mind, so she didn’t expect to make a college decision until her senior year.
It’s a relief, she said, to make her choice early. This time, she won’t be changing her mind.
“I saw the campus and met the people and I just knew,’’ she said.
