The Station House at Sokol Park in Bellevue is getting saucy this weekend.
The 20th Annual State Barbeque Championship of Nebraska, presented by the Greater Omaha Barbeque Society, kicks off Friday, at 6 p.m.
The public is welcome to judge a barbecue sauce contest as well as a People’s Choice Competition at 7:30 p.m.
Different seasonings, sauces, arts and crafts and barbecue dishes will be available at the Station House from various vendors throughout the competition Friday.
Blue Rock Boulevard will perform songs from the ’70s on Friday night from 6 p.m. to midnight.
On Saturday, the Kansas City Barbeque Society’s certified barbecue judges will determine the best of the competition’s barbecue teams in various meat categories, side dishes and desserts. Judging on Saturday is closed to the public.
Admission to the 20th Annual State Barbeque Championship of Nebraska is $5 at the gate. The Station House at Sokol Park is at 905 Allied Road, Bellevue, five miles south of Offutt Air Force Base. Visit gobs.org for more information.
