KEARNEY — Led by a pair of top-10 finishers, the Lexington girls cross country team finished seventh overall at the University of Nebraska at Kearney Invitational Monday afternoon with 143 points.
Seward won Class B with 48 team points.
Odaliz Santoyo, the defending Class B state champion, paced the Minutemaids with a time of 15:43.2, good for sixth place. Teammate Vanessa Ambriz came in 10th with a time of 15:49.2.
Despite a good effort, the Lexington girls hold themselves to a higher standard.
“I believed that I could’ve pushed myself more,” Santoyo said. “This meet benefits us (in preparation for the state meet), but I don’t think we took advantage of it.”
