A trio of western Iowa volleyball players returned from last weekend’s state tournament with a little extra hardware.
St. Albert senior libero Katie Kuck and Carroll Kuemper senior outside hitter Brandi Bueltel each earned medals after being named to the Class 2-A all-tournament team Saturday. Kuck led all 2-A participants with 48 digs in two state matches, while Bueltel collected 21 kills in her two outings in Cedar Rapids.
In 4-A, Sioux City Heelan senior middle Lauren Brobst was named to the class’s honorary team after hitting .291 with 25 kills in two matches while averaging 1.38 blocks.
St. Albert, Kuemper and Heelan each won a state contest before bowing out in the semifinals.
