Nebraska state track champions crowned
The Nebraska state track and field championships saw its champions crowned Saturday evening at Burke Stadium. The Kearney boys and Millard West girls took home the Class A titles. In Class B, the Elkhorn South boys and Auburn girls triumphed. Class C saw the Thayer Central boys and Kearney Catholic girls earn top honors. And the Class D competition ended with the Hartington boys and O’Neill St. Mary’s girls on top of the standings.

Glenwood junior thrower Jacy Embray currently ranks fourth in Class 3-A in the shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 1¾ inches. That throw well exceeds last year’s high of 37-1½. She also competes in the discus.

Heartland plays host to track invitational
Alex Preslicka and Tyler Brown notched a win each for their teams in Tuesday's Heartland Invitational. Preslicka won the long jump for McCool Junction with a best effort of 19-11 ¾. For Brown of the host Huskies it was first in the 100-meter dash with a clocking of 11.3 ticks of the stopwatch.

Heartland girls 3rd, E-M 6th, McCool 7th at invite
Heartland and Exeter-Milligan had one winner each on the girls' side of Tuesday's Heartland Invitational track meet. Maitlyn Thomsen of E-M won the long jump soaring 16-1 and for Heartland's Eve Vanderneck it was a winning toss of 33-5 ½ in the shot put.

H/LHF, Osmond win at Neligh-Oakdale meet
The Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family girls and Osmond boys kept the hosts away from the team titles, both outdistancing themselves from Neligh-Oakdale at the Warriors’ track and field invite here on a windy and cool Tuesday.

The Central City Bison and Fillmore Central Panthers paid a visit to York on Tuesday for triangular track and field action at York High School.

Sterling boys “Jet” to Meridian Title
The Sterling Jets captured six titles at the Meridian Invite on Wednesday and pulled away from second place McCool Junction for a 36 point win, 115-79.

The Sterling Jets and the Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles battled to the wire on Wednesday, but the Jets would end up with the girls team title at the Meridian Invite by the score of 88-83.
